EVJ Volleyball Girls Coaching Staff

Our coaching staff has been and continues to be a large and integral part of our success at EVJ Volleyball.

We are extremely proud of our team of Coaches at EVJ. They represent the best of the AZ Region with decades of coaching and playing experience. Among them are:

  • Hall of Fame athletes and coaches (both high school and college)
  • Former collegiate players and coaches
  • All-American, All-State and All-Region/Conference players
  • Academic All-Americans and more

Our exceptional staff brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience and knowledge. We encourage you to read their bios.  We think you will be as impressed as we are with their experience and passion for teaching and mentoring our fine young athletes in the sport of volleyball.

Types of Teams

At EVJ, we offer three main types of teams.  Every team is performance based, which means that an individual’s playing time is determined by practice and tournament performance (Futures program has a slightly different philosophy, see below). If a player attends practice regularly, works hard and demonstrates the ability to perform the skills necessary to play the game, she will be given the opportunity to play. When given the opportunity to play, each player must bring to the court the skills that she demonstrated in practice that earned the playing time. If play in the game does not match her success during practice, then she must rededicate herself on the practice court. This cycle can only lead to success for the team and the player. Playing time is at the sole discretion of the coaches as it relates to player performance and team strategy decisions.

National (N) TeamsĀ

(Age groups 13s-18s)

National teams typically carry up to 12 players.

Each of these teams is highly competitive with the goal of finishing the season competing at the Junior Nationals (JN’s) in late June/early July. 18’s will finish earlier.  All teams will compete regionally as well as travel out of state to compete nationally.  National teams are committed to post-region play.

Travel (T) Teams

(Age Groups 15-17)

Travel teams typically carry up to 12 players.  Exceptions can be made.

Each of these teams is highly competitive and will compete regionally as well as travel out of state to compete nationally.  Travel teams are committed to post-region play.

Regional (R) Teams

(Age groups 10s-18s)

Regional teams typically carry up to 12 players.  Exceptions can be made.

Each of these teams is designed to compete at the regional level.  Regional teams are also offered (optional) post-region play.

Note: Futures teams (10s-12s) operate with more of an equal playing time philosophy.  However, attendance, work ethic, and skill execution are still factors considered and playing time is at the sole discretion of the coaches as it relates to player performance and team strategy decisions.
