A message from Coach Lamar:
Since arriving on Xavier College Preparatory campus nineteen years ago, Ms. Bryant has guided its Junior Varsity volleyball team to an impressive 121-7 record as JV Head Coach from 2004-2012.  In 2013, Ms. Bryant took over as the Varsity head coach, and has led the Gators to an impressive 253-57 record, with three 6A Division I State Titles, two 3rd Place State finishes, and a 5A Division I State Runner - Up. 

In 2015, Bryant was named the National Federation High School Association Coach of the Year for Arizona, two time Arizona Republic Big School Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2017, and an Arizona Interscholastic Association four time Region Coach of the Year, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018. This will mark her 23rd year as a volleyball coach at the high school and club level.

Lamar-Renee Bryant began turning heads at Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, Arizona, where she was a three-year varsity volleyball player, two-time MVP and Captain, All-Region MVP, United Dairymen’s All-American, two-time All-Arizona State Team member, Aztec Player of the Year, and also a starter for the 1993 State Champion Basketball Team.

Lamar-Renee went on to earn a scholarship to the University of Memphis and then transferred to Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, after completing her freshman year. Morgan State won back-to-back conference championships in 1997 and 1998, and appeared in the NCAA tournament for the first two times in the school’s history. She was a two-time All-Academic Conference Selection, and earned the prestigious Arthur Ashe Jr. Scholars Award in 1999 in recognition of her academic excellence, community activism, and athletic prowess. She graduated cum laude from Morgan State University, and subsequently earned a Master of Science degree in Sports Marketing from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Lamar-Renee not only dedicates herself to building competitive volleyball programs as a bright, innovative coach, she enjoys playing tennis and traveling with her family.
