EXPLORE EVJ VOLLEYBALL BEFORE TRYOUTS— OPEN HOUSE & PLAYER EVALUATIONS

Welcome to EVJ Volleyball’s 2025-2026 Open House & Player Evaluation Period
Choosing the right club is an important decision — and the EVJ Open House is your opportunity to experience our training, meet our staff, and learn what sets our program apart.

Each session includes:
• Competitive open gym play led by EVJ coaches
• Informational meeting for parents to learn about the EVJ philosophy, team structure, and season overview
• Time to connect with staff and ask questions about tryouts and team placement

Whether you’re new to club volleyball or a returning athlete exploring your options, these sessions are the perfect way to see if EVJ is the right fit for you.

Note: The Arizona Region establishes the Open House Period each fall — a 10-day window for players to visit and evaluate clubs before official tryouts. For more information about regional rules, click here

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TRYOUTS

EVJ tryouts are fast-paced, organized, and designed to give every athlete the chance to show their skills. Players should expect brief pauses while coaches huddle and evaluate.

During tryouts, athletes will:

  • Be evaluated in serving, passing, setting, hitting, and defense
  • Complete positional drills and physical evaluations
  • Participate in scrimmages to demonstrate game IQ and competitiveness

At EVJ, all players earn their spots — open tryouts ensure every athlete has the chance to make the best team possible.

HOW TEAMS ARE FORMED AT TRYOUTS

We aim to place athletes where they will grow, contribute, and succeed. Coaches evaluate players based on:

  • Skill and volleyball IQ
  • Athleticism and effort
  • Attitude and coachability
  • Team needs, depth, and roster availability

NEXT STEPS IF SELECTED / NOT SELECTED AT TRYOUTS

  • If selected, your tryout number will appear on a roster posted at the end of tryouts.
  • To secure a spot, you must sign the Club Participation Agreement and pay the non-refundable deposit.
  • Athletes commit to the full season, including practices, tournaments, and financial obligations.
  • If not selected, athletes may be placed on a call back list or offered alternate options.
